WE care about you; we care about the health of your computers, and the security of your data. Helping you stay up-to-date on the latest hacker activities, we invite you to read about the Zeus Panda Banking Trojan, and to consider the security of your data. Please feel free to call us if you need assistance.
As a follow-up to last week’s “Backup 3-2-1,” we present NAS (Network Attached Storage) explained – hopefully painlessly, by a fun and easy-to-understand YouTube video. In preparation for Cyber Monday, we’ve included a short article aimed at helping you get the most battery life out of your iPhone – we’re going to need that power on the 27th!
Zeus Panda Banking Trojan
Did I warn you that the dark side keeps getting more and more devious?
In this week’s spotlight, hackers try to re-route searchers looking for banking information by using a network of hacked websites to either insert specific keywords into new pages, or by hiding them in existing pages, with the end result that the hacked websites float to the top of searches. You can protect yourself in a few different ways:
> Never click on any links or documents from an unknown source (never!);
> Don’t enable macros – Microsoft’s default is “disabled” and it is safest to leave it that way;
> Call us at Computer Troubleshooters to request a security review. We would be very happy to help you increase your security in order to protect your computers and data. T. 203.702.2103
Data Storage and Backup
What is less expensive than a server, easier to maintain and back up, and gives multiple users remote access to your data? A Network Attached Storage Device (“NAS”).
A NAS is high-capacity storage that connects to your home or office network and allows you, and other users designated by you, to access your data from PCs, Laptops and other mobile devices without needing to plug into the drive.
If you need to store files on a network drive, we can help you determine what size and specifications you need. Will you just be sharing documents, spreadsheets, etc. with co-workers? Are you simultaneously streaming videos over your home network to a couple of tablets, your smart TV and a laptop? Do you have lots of family photos and videos? There is an appropriate NAS for your usage requirements.
You may recall the “3-2-1 Backup” article from last week’s Tech Talk – NAS is a great backup device that has space for one, five, eight, or even more hard drives, allowing you to back up your PCs, your phones, or even a large digital photo/video collection. This is truly a great solution for home as well as your business.
Why not call us to help you determine which size NAS is right for you? 203.702.2103
